What Really Works as a Beginner in Affiliate Marketing — My 4 Best Tips

I started as a newbie by going to YouTube and watching affiliate marketing videos. I saw sales styles I liked and lots I didn’t. I followed the ones who seemed like they had it together. I emulated their sales styles.

Then I went to JVZoo and watched for a few weeks. Every week they rank to top 10 most successful programs.

I suffered from what I’ve heard called “the shiny object syndrome” meaning I heard about the latest and greatest product and I had to have it!

What I finally learned was you need a few very necessary things. You need a website or blog page like Wordpress, an autoresponder, a sales funnel, a high converting offer and a tracking tool. I needed all these things in one program and someone to set it up for me.

I wish someone had bluntly told me these things right up front. It would have saved me lots of effort and failing with products that had some of these options, but not all of them and lots of money.

I'm going to give you a step-by-step guide to succeed in affiliate marketing for beginners. This piece of information is applicable to YOU in 2020 and beyond.

1. Join an Affiliate Network

When you hear about affiliate programs, the MAIN two that always come up are Amazon and Clickbank.

Amazon is one of the biggest retailers in the world, so it shouldn’t surprise you that their affiliate program is one of the biggest in the world.

Clickbank has been around for a long time and has a lot of information products, ebookssoftwares, and physical products in a ton of different niches.

After choosing an affiliate program you want to work with, it’s time to pick a niche & a product to promote!

There are also a few good businesses in a box, full on turnkey affiliate market systems that set up your entire business on your behalf. So you operate an online marketing business from the get-go and learn best practices as you go along. In some systems your activity is driving traffic to the product landing page (and traffic is the key), or in some systems you buy already viable traffic to send to the product landing page.

2. Choose Your Niche & Product

choose your niche

A niche is just a specific market you want to go into.

A good way to choose your niche is to think about something your passionate about and would love to promote

So for example, if you’re into basketball like me, it’ll be easier for you to promote products in that niche because you relate to it better than the average person and you’ll feel way more comfortable talking about it.

The Health, Make Money and Relationship Niches have very high demand and are very profitable.

3. Build Your Funnel

You could promote products without funnels and landing pages, but it won’t help you to build a business. In order to build a business, you need to build leads and have a list of possible prospects for future use.

I use ClickFunnels for all of my landing pages

It's simple & easy to use!

4. Drive Targeted Traffic

drive targeted traffic

Once you have your funnel set up you need to drive targeted traffic to your landing page where you will have your affiliate links

As a beginner, I would just focus on free traffic at first, then start running ads when you have the budget to invest into paid traffic.

The main traffic sources I'd recommend you start with would be Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.

That's exactly how you can start affiliate marketing as a complete beginner with little to no money!
